Additional classrooms for Cebu’s students

June 27,2016 - 11:28 PM

THE Cebu provincial government will allocate a bigger budget to build more classrooms to accommodate nearly half a million students that are enrolled this school year.

“We have P40 million still in the budget for this and we will build more classrooms this year and next year,” Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III told reporters yesterday.

He said he was reminded of the classroom shortage after yesterday morning’s meeting with the Provincial School Board.

There are 459,000 students enrolled in the province this school year.

Isaiah Wagas, the provincial Department of Education (DepEd) senior high school coordinator, said they needed more than 1,000 classrooms to accommodate 24,000 senior high school students.

“I agreed with the School Board that we will give notebooks to the students next school year.” Davide added./USJ-R Intern Rabboni Borbon
