Cebu City eyes reducing court workers’ allowance

With Cebu City government facing a major deficit in funds, Cebu City mayor Tomas Osmeña announced they will be cutting a lot of expenses as part of “reducing government waste.”

Among those that will be affected are more than 50 court workers including judges and clerks whose allowances will be cut by half.

City Budget office Marietta Gumia said the mayor is now asking the allowances of judges and court clerks working under the jurisdiction of Cebu City.

According to Osmeña, he understood that those working in the justice department are underpaid but the city is under a major deficit hence the need to cut down on expenses.
