Quake in Ormoc City felt in Cebu; no damages

A 5.2 magnitude tectonic earthquake hit Ormoc City in Leyte at 7:56 p.m. on Wednesday.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology initially reported the epicenter in Borbon, northern Cebu at a magnitude of 4.8 on the Richter scale.

Later at 8:30 p.m., the agency posted an update placing the epicenter in Ormoc City. The tremor was also felt in Villaba and Pastrana in Leyte (intensity 3), and Cebu City (intensity 2)

Aftershocks were expected to follow but no huge damage is expected. When reached for comment, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office chief Balthazar Tribunalo said he still had not received any report of any emergency in Borbon.
