Samsam scores crucial win in 2016 Emil’s Cup cagefest
THE DEFENDING champions Team Samsam took the second spot and the last twice-to-beat bonus that came with it after they defeated ASPA, 87-75, in the 2016 Emil’s Cup on Monday night at the Minglanilla Sports Complex.
The win meant that Team Samsam will be taking on the very same ASPA team in the semifinals while Abrenica dukes it out against the SG-ARQ Builders in the other pairing. Those games were still being played as of this writing.
Ferdinand Lusdoc had 17 points to lead the squad of First District Congressman Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas even as former pro Eliud Poligrates and Jovanie Aguilar added 16 and 14, respectively.
Kenneth Niones paced ASPA with 16 while Marvin Tundag and Frangiel Omolon scored 14 apiece.
