Aussie defends title at Cobra Ironman

Australian Tim Reed successfully defended two titles in the Cobra Ironman 70.3 Asia Pacific Championships at the Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa early Sunday morning.

Reed, the defending champion of last year’s Asia Pacific Championships in Australia and the Philippine Championships logged in a time of 3:51:46. Trailing him is five time Ironman full distance world champion Craig Alexander (3:55.01) and Sam Betten (3:57.15).

Caroline Steffen of Switzerland won her fourth consecutive title in the distaff side of the pro division after she clocked in at 4:16.19. Czech Republic’s Radka Vodickova (4:18.29) placed second and Australia’s Sarah Crowley (4:21.53) at third.

In the Filipino Elite division, August Benedicto claimed his fourth title in the male division with the time of 4:26.46 and Monica Torres defended her title the distaff side with 4:27.46.
