AFTER a successful maiden year of the Clash of Captains, participants headed by inaugural champion Tonyson Lee of Rider Omegapro Tri Team formally turned over the funds raised from the event yesterday during the awards night held at the City Sports Club-Cebu.

A total of P100,000 was accumulated from the race, which was a side event of the recent Cobra IronMan Asia-Pacific Championships which featured captains of different teams.

Those who joined were Lee, Jonel Borromeo of Team MotorAce-Kawasaki, Brian Borja of Volvo Multisport, Gianluca Guidicelli of Team Ford Forza, Richard Ho of TTB Cebu, Bernard Sia of Rotary Philippines and Dudin Cuyos of Team Tri S.

The beneficiary chosen by Lee was the IPI Foundation, which trains young children in triathlon through its grassroots development program.

Lee topped the COC race by clocking five hours, 54 minutes and 38 seconds. Borja finished second while Borromeo settled for third.

“It was truly a competition and not just a fun race like what many expected it to be,” said Lee. “In fact, we trained very hard for this. We are looking forward to another action-packed race next year.”/REPORTER GLENDALE G. ROSAL
