Maine Mendoza and Alden Richards in yesterday’s “Kalyeserye”
AFTER several twists and turns, Kalyeserye sweethearts Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza are officially in a relationship.
For AlDub fans, it was the much-awaited sweet confession as Maine has finally admitted that she loves Alden back during the love team’s 59th weeksary on “Eat Bulaga.”
It seemed like Valentine’s Day was moved to September 1, as the start of “ber months” also officially marked the beginning of a new chapter for both Alden and Maine.
In yesterday’s episode, Alden took the opportunity to directly ask Maine if she loved him.
“Ito ang tanong na matagal ko nang gustong tanungin: Mahal mo ba ako?,” asked Alden as he was holding back his tears.
Before answering, Maine paused putting her hand on her heart as she addressed Lola Nidora (portrayed by Wally Bayola) and asked: “Lola, hinihingi ko po ang blessing niyo. Ito na po ba ang tamang panahon?”
Lola Nidora answered, “Yan ang sinabi mo sa akin kagabi, go for it.”
Alden asked again, “Sasagutin mo na ba ang tanong ko? Handa ka na ba maging tayo?”
Alden and Maine exchanged Dubsmashes featuring romantic love songs before continuing their conversation.
A montage of scenes from previous Kalyeserye episodes were flashed on TV, including the start of their split screen romance, their romantic dates, their first anniversary celebration, among others.
“Maine, mahal mo ba ako?” Alden asked again. “May mga bagay na dumarating sa buhay, yung magpapabago ng takbo nito na hindi mo inaasahan. Aalagaan habang buhay at makakasama habang buhay. Maine, tinatanggap mo ba ako? Mahal mo ba ako, Maine? Mahal kita,” he added as he held Maine’s other hand trying not to cry.
Allan K, one of Eat Bulaga’s hosts, could be heard screaming in the background saying, “Sagot na Maine! True to life na ‘yan!”
After a few seconds of silence, with Maine holding back her tears, she finally answered with a smile, “Oo, Alden, mahal din kita.”
The two give each other a tight hug while tears streamed down their faces.
Using her ASKfm account, Maine had already given hints that the phenomenal “Kalyeserye” segment of “Eat Bulaga” is coming to an end.
She personally answered an inquiry of a fan as many netizens were giving bad reviews on how the story of the Kalyeserye has been going.
The bad reviews also came with rumors circulating online that GMA Network has other plans for Alden and Maine, separately.
But GMA Films President Annette Gozon-Abrogar, through her Instagram account, issued a statement about the plans for a soap opera starring Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza.
“I answered in my personal capacity in my personal Instagram account just to put a stop to all the speculations that have led some fans to argue already among themselves on my (said social media) account,” she explained.
According to her, the management is keen on making the much-anticipated program happen.
“Just so the speculations don’t become blown out of proportion, here is the truth: we would want nothing more than to show an AlDub soap opera in primetime. That is our priority and that is what we (have been) continuously working on since July,” she wrote.
Annette, however, is asking consideration from fans for the delay of the love team’s first teleserye saying they are carefully preparing Alden and Maine’s next important project.
“… please understand also that this will be the first soap opera of Alden and Maine and they deserve a well thought of and well-crafted soap opera that is not rushed and done haphazardly,” she added.
In the same post, she shared that there are concepts that have already been laid on the table and are pending approval of the managements of both celebrities.
“Hopefully, one of the concepts will be approved soon by both the management team of Alden and of course, Maine’s management team,” she noted.
“In the meantime, if Alden has separate assignments from Maine, it does not mean that these assignments will contradict the AlDub love team. I would also suppose that the same is true for Maine’s endeavors even if these do not include Alden. There is no intent on the part of GMA to pair Alden with another girl aside from Maine,” she further explained.
The network executive urged AlDub fans to support all the projects that Alden and Maine are set to take on.
“So instead of fighting and arguing amongst ourselves, let us unite and support AlDub and pray for all their upcoming projects together whether it be a soap opera, a movie or any [project] that will come their way,” she said.
Lastly, she also encouraged netizens to not perpetuate animosity online.
“I hope that with this, it would lead to #heartoverhate which is one of the social media advocacies recently launched by GMA,” she concluded.
