Early morning rains cause landslides in Cebu, Talisay Cities

Lose soil that blocked the Talisay City bound lane of the Manipis Road obstructed traffic flow in the area this morning.

Manipis Councilor Roberto Olivar said lose soil coming from the roadside hill started to erode about 11 a.m. and blocked one lane of the two-lane road.

Olivar said vehicles passing by the area were forced to take turns in using the roads outer lane bound for Campo 5.

He said that the landslide affected area is located between Campo 4 and Campo 5 in Talisay City.

At about 9 a.m. today, another landslide was also reported in Barangay Kalunasan in Cebu City.

The morning rains caused soil coming from an ongoing road project to soften and erode towards the barangay multi-purpose hall. The road project is located close to the Kalunasan Elementary School.

City disaster personnel said no damage were reported during the minor landslide but they had a city-owned backhoe placed on standby in the area in case the landslide would worsen.
