TWO Omega Boxing Gym fighters will be gunning for separate titles next week.
Jerry Castroverde (9W-3L-7 KOs) will fight Russian Shavkat Rakhimov (6W-0L, 4 Kos) for the vacant World Boxing Organization (WBO) Youth Intercontinental super featherweight championship on Nov. 18 in DIVS, Ekatirenburg, Russia.
Castrovede is in for a tough assignment as the 22-year-old Shavkat is considered as one of Russia’s up-and-coming young stars.
Castroverde is looking to get back on track as he faltered in his last assignment when he absorbed a unanimous decision loss to Aphiwe Mboyiya in South Africa on July 29.
Another Omega Gym stalwart Salatiel Amit (9-1-2, 7 KOs) will be battling Jonathan Taconing (22-3-1, 18 Kos) for the WBC International light flyweight title on Nov. 19 at the Elorde Sports Complex in Parañaque City.
Amit is one of Omega’s rising fighters and a victory against Taconing will further boost his stock.
Taconing of Elorde Stable is a former world title challenger. He is coming off a loss to Ganigan Lopez that denied him of the WBC light flyweight belt.
Castroverde and Amit are promoted by Omega Pro Sports Internationa.
