Cebu City Triathlon set Jan. 29

THE THIRD edition of Cebu City Triathlon will be held on Jan. 29 next year at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC).

The only triathlon race that is held at the heart of Cebu City, the event is expected to draw 200 to 300 triathletes, who will compete in two categories — the sprint and relay categories.

The event will will feature a 750-meter swim, 20-kilometer bike and 5k run. The swimming pool at CCSC will be used for the swim portion while the bike and run events will traverse the city’s major thoroughfares.

Cebuana triathlete Aaliyah Mataragnon is the defending back-to-back champion in the women’s division, while Boholano Paul Jumamil dominated the men’s division last year.

Justin Chiongbian is the inaugural men’s division champion.

The event is organized by Cornerstone Group.

Registration for the race held in line with the Sinulog Festival celebration has already started.

Registrations fees are pegged at P2,800 for the sprint contest and P6,000 for the relay event.
