CEBU’S leading university University of Cebu opened its new seven-story School of Medicine and Medical Arts Building along Ouano Avenue, Mandaue City last December 8 to accomodate more students.
As a medical campus, the newly-opened building houses state-of-the-art facilities that facilitate outcome-based education which is one of UC’s trusts.
UC president Lawyer Augusto Go in the building’s grand opening and ribbon cutting said that the university aims to serve more students not only in Cebu but also students coming from neighboring cities in the Visayas and across all regions in the country.
“I am very grateful for all the people who are here today. Without you, this venture will not be put into reality,” said Go.
“This is just our start. I am aiming to become one of Cebu’s best medical school. Expect more from us,” he added.
Mandaue Mayor Luigi Quisumbing said that the school could help fill in to the growing need of medical practitioners in the region. “As we all know, Mandaue is starting to become one of the leaders in the medical field in the country. We want to be a trailblazer,” said Quisumbing.
He added that Mandaue is fast becoming a world-class city.
“This will open the gateway not just for treatment, but also for research and development,” he added.
Also present during the opening were Mrs. Elizabeth Go, Ms. Candice Gotianuy, UC President, and Dr. Melfer Montoya, UCMed Dean. Some of the faculty also graced the event.
