LEYLAM FC grabbed three wins yesterday in the first day of the prestigious Saigon 7’s International Football Tournament in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
The Cebu-based football club, the reigning Aboitiz Football Cup men’s open champion, is hoping to surpass its quarterfinals appearance last year in Southeast Asia’s most prestigious seven-aside international football tournament.
In their first match under group A, Leylam FC beat KC Cricket Club, 5-1, with Rogelio Castillon Jr. leading the squad with two goals while Ranulfo Colina, Michael Pacite and team owner Ugur Tasci contributing a goal each.
They also beat Hotshots and Money Grabbers with identical scores of 2-1. Alexander Garciano and Castillon Jr. both scored the goals for Leylam FC in the two matches.
In their final match in group A, they salvaged a 2-2 draw with BU Lions FC with Castillon Jr. scoring both goals for Leylam FC.
The rest of group A’s matches are still being played as of press time but Leylam FC’s head coach Oliver Colina assures that the team will advance to the knockout stage after their solid performance yesterday.
