AS far as growth go, Cebu is tremendous leaps. Developments are seen everywhere. And to mark another milestone, an international manufacturer of microphones, speakers, and hearing aid components opened its largest factory in Lapu-Lapu City. This is another testament to Cebu’s economic growth.

The opening of Knowles Electronics factory located in Cebu Light Industrial Park was attended by executives from the US, Director General Lilia de Lima, and Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza.

Knowles Electronics invested more than USD 28million for a 220,000 sq.ft factory. It is set to bring in 4,000 more jobs for Filipinos.

According to Knowles Electronic Vice President HR & Chief Administration Officer Ray Cabrera they have gone to different countries in Asia to find the best site for Knowles’ biggest factory before finally setting it on the shores of Lapu-Lapu.

The three main factors that made them decide on having a plant in Philippines is the country’s rich human capital, people who are highly educated and stable workforce. Another factor is the country’s business friendly climate, and the stability. And with this, Knowles aims to maintain its global leadership in producing world-class products.

“We want to achieve this by delivering world-class, high-value and innovative products that exceed customer expectations and by providing best-in-class manufacturing services.” Joseph Emmanuel Liwag, Managing Director of Knowles Electronics (Philippines) Corporation said.

Knowles is a leading provider of MEMS surface mount microphones (SiSonic) to major cell phone brands and other electronic devices. It has 17 subsidiary companies present in 11 countries in the US, Europe, and Asia.
