SINCE 2007, the Rotary Club Cebu has been renewing hopes of a new life by funding operations needed for children with Congenital Heart Defects (CHD). This year, RCC has forged stronger partnerships with foreign organizations namely, the Gift of Life International and International Children’s Heart Foundation through a medical mission to perform pediatric cardiac surgeries and at the same time, impart knowledge and skill to local doctors to perform complex pediatric cases that eventually will accommodate more operations.
In the past, various projects have been done to fund operations, but with a successful first fun run last year, they will once again hold the Run for Gift of Life in partnership with Citrineland Corporation on May 13 at Robinsons Galleria Cebu.
Rotarian Director Charles Ong explains that this year, aside from promoting health and wellness among participants, the goal is to also inform and educate the masses most especially parents of children with CHD that there is hope for their children’s future.
The run’s route will start and finish at the Robinsons Galleria Cebu with 4 category distances at 16K, 8K, 3K and a special family race where families with small children can also participate in a 1K fun run.
Awards will be given to the top 5 fastest runners per category, the biggest delegation, and the most senior registered runner. Loot bags will also be given to the first 2,000 registered runners.
