HOPING to raise the awareness of Executive Order No. 56, s. 2018, which is the replacement of Patrol 117 to Emergency 911 Hotline as the nationwide emergency answering point, HUW Travel and Tours organizes the first-ever Run for Emergency 911 and Advocacy Awareness.
The running event, which is slated on Aug. 26 at the Cebu Business Park, features three categories: 3 kilometers, 5 kilometers and 10 kilometers.
Over a thousand runners, comprised of people from the Department of the Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) Tri-Bureaus — Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) as well as local government units (LGU) and the civilian sector, are expected to join the race.
Assembly time of the event will be at 3:30 a.m. and gun time will be at 4:00 a.m.
“Most Cebuanos are still contacting the Patrol 117, which will still be directed to Emergency 911,” Fire Officer and 911 Assistance Admin Niña Deidre Marikit said during a press conference yesterday at the Mezzo Hotel in Mabolo, Cebu City. “So this activity is a good way to let the citizens know how convenient it will be to call 911 directly.”
Meanwhile, HUW Travel and Tours’ Sylvia Sim mentioned that during the event, they will be streaming live the Asian Games coverage to support the stint of Cebu’s Mary Joy Tabal in women’s marathon.
Registration for the event has already started last Aug. 10 and will end this Saturday. The event’s entry fee starts at P400 for the 3K, P600 for the 5K and P700 for the 10K.
Interested runners may visit Runner Sports in Ayala, HUW Travel and Tours Office, Liga ng mga Barangay Cebu City Chapter, BFP Talisay and Barangay Halls of T. Padilla and Sta. Cruz.
