IT’S time to trade those pumps and sneakers for the classic flip-flops that never go out of style. These comfy thong sandals are enjoying a resurgence, after being seen on the world’s most famous trendsetters, as well as on the runways of major Fashion Week events around the world.
Here are some reasons you should go get a pair—if you don’t have one already:
Spotted on the runways
Flip-flops were all the rage at the recent New York Fashion Week. Model-of-the-moment Kendall Jenner sashayed down the runway in black flip-flops for the Michael Kors Spring/Summer 2018 collection, while Rihanna showcased a variety of these at the Fenty Puma catwalk. Not to be outdone, models for Hermes, Marc Jacobs, Isabel Marant, and Sonia Rykiel were wearing flip-flops with their ensembles.
Worn by celebrities and influencers
The comeback of the flip-flops isn’t just limited to the runway. It’s a street style staple as well, seen on the likes of the always-fashionable Olsen twins, and French journalist turned Instagram sensation Sophie Fontanel was also spotted sporting Havaianas at the Milan Fashion Week 2018.
Approved by style authorities
Stylists Jeanette Madsen and Thora Valdimars said to store your sandals and hunt down your old Havaianas. Besides getting the stamp of approval from fashion icons, Vogue has declared flip-flops as officially back; California-based fashion brand, Who What Wear followed suit by saying it deserve its resurgence.
