A 20-year love story that’s one for the books

CEBU CITY, Philippines— Remember that song by Taylor Dayne?

Love will lead you back?

This song fits perfectly with this love story that took 20 years in the making.

Melodie Garcia Lanticse and Edil John Lanticse, 32, from Cebu City, tied the knot on January 28, 2021, after being apart for 20 years.

The couple who were childhood sweethearts thought life has better plans for them apart.

But to their surprise, love did lead them back to each other in 2017.

It was a kiss made 20 years ago that made them realize they are meant to be together, forever.

“Kababata mi mam same mi ug school nya na demolish lang among balay b4. Mao nag ka buwag mi for 20 years. Nag kita mi ug balik 2017 nagka uyab mi,” Melodie said.

It was at that meeting that they knew this is a love story of a lifetime.

Melodie said they started communicating in 2014 through Facebook but said during those times there was still no spark.

It was in the year 2017 when the two got connected again and figured they can start something that would last forever.

In her post, Melodie captioned:

“First love never dies! It only gets stronger with TIME. No matter how it takes, true love is always worth the wait!

The first time I was kissed by him, I was hooked, one kiss and I became addicted to him! I knew then,  that no one could ever make me feel such an electric spark.

The moment I drew back from your lips and looked into those perfect eyes, I knew I would love and follow you until the end of my life!

Trivia: It’s worth the wait 20 years of not seeing each other and we ended up in each other’s arms!”

It took 20 years for the couple to reenact their first kiss photo again.

Talk about a love to last a lifetime?

You may not know but it could be your childhood sweetheart that’s truly the one for you. /rcg
