Despite the sweltering heat, the Spring-Summer makeup trend for 2014 speaks of a natural, fresh and radiant look.
The focus is either on the eye, cheek or lips. Minimalism, subtlety mark the season’s look.
Renowned celebrity makeup artist Jigs Mayuga gave tips and techniques on how to achieve the spring-summer look during a MAC workshop held recently at the Cebu City Marriott Hotel.
Mayuga summed up the different trends of the season as Day Glow,Light FX, CC-thru Color and Eye-Deal.
Citing his favorite tool. the Strobe Cream, Mayuga said this should be applied on the apple of your cheeks and other areas you want to highlight, then follow up with a foundation.
Quoting international makeup artists, here’s how MAC summed up the season’s look:
DAY GLOW. It’s all about the skin.Raw, rugged and healthy are common descriptions of the look. The complexion has to be summery, gorgeous, glowing. Choose a color base that suits your skin tone. The highlight points are the cheekbones and the nose bridge.
“We are using highlights and emollient textures to emulate the way that light falls on fresh, young skin,” says Lucia Pieroni.
CC-THRU COLOR.The look tunes in to the corrective cast that cool and warm tones bring to brighten the face. Mayuga said the point of focus is either the eyes, cheeks or lips to project the features and brighten the face.
Choices of essential tools include a Peaches powder blush, Love Joy mineral blush, Have a Lovely Day casual color, dual jewel sparkle shadow, Promise ME Velvertease Lip Pencil, Fashion Boost Pro longwear lip pencil.
LIGHT FX. Projecting a fairy-like radiance with glassy and opalescent quality, the new light effects have an energetic, humid sportiness that makes them part of the “healthy” story. The skin is accented with flashes of white, gold, silver, glitter, shimmer adding an unreferenced avant-garde mood to the makeup.
Choices of essential tools are Gesso eyeshadow, Pearl Cream color base, Strobe cream, Pink Opal pigment,Luna Cream color base, Tender Moon Sparkle shadow,Nightlife Sparkle shadow.
EYE-DEAL. Focus is on the eye. The look reinvents the eye accents – liner, lashes, Kohl – that enhance the daylit outdoor beauty.
