Benefits of having grandparents

DALAGUETE, Cebu–Households in the Philippines often have extended family members that include the grandparents.

Aside from giving parenting tips, grannies also provide attention and care to their grandchildren especially when the parents are away.

In most cases, they also spoil their grandchildren by giving them extra care and lots and lots of treats.

Anyone who has lived with their grandparents will surely know what it feels like to have been spoiled as a child.

This Grandparents’ Day, CDN Digital would like to honor our lolas and lolos for the love and support that they are always willing to give.

We listed below some of the benefits of having our grannies close:

They have wisdom — One of the most important roles grannies play, is to carry the wisdom of generations. The superstitions you’ve grown to believe? Your parents got them from your grannies.

They break the rules (in a good way) – When someone breaks the house rules, there are consequences. But for sure, your grandparents will make some adjustments for you because they will always have a soft spot for you.

They spoil you – Your grandparents will shower you will love and hugs and kisses. Yes, even if you’re all grown up.

They’re nicer to you than to their own children – Grannies don’t actually love their grandkids more than they love their own children— they just demonstrate their love to their grandkids in clearer ways.  For this reason, you’ll be comfortable to confide to them than your actual parents. / dcb
