The Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) Industrial Engineering students successfully held the 17th Industrial Engineering Annual Convention (IEAC) on June 16–17, 2025, at the College of Communication Theatre, PUP Manila, in a media partnership with INQUIRER.net.
Organized by the graduating students of the BS Industrial Engineering program, Class of 2024–2025, the convention carried the theme “Prismatic Pathways: Advancing Industry with Human Synergy.” The event served as the culminating requirement for students under the course INEN 30261 – Seminars, Industry Inspection, and Observation.
Now in its 17th year, the IEAC has been a tradition in the PUP IE Department since 2008, aiming to bridge academic learning and industry practice. This year’s theme emphasized the integration of technology with human-centered solutions, key principles of Industry 5.0.
The two-day program was divided into four main segments. On Day 1, the morning segment titled “Luminary Refraction” featured opening ceremonies, keynote talks from industry resource speakers, and company presentations. In the afternoon, “Polarization” showcased the Prism Case Competition, where student teams proposed innovative solutions to real-world industrial problems.
Day 2 opened with “Optical Diffraction”, which included an alumni talk, a quiz bee, and the awarding of competition winners. The event concluded with “Spectral Dispersion” in the afternoon, highlighting a motivational session, the IE Hard Hatting Ceremony for Batch 2025, and closing tributes to the organizing committee.
The event also featured intermissions, raffles, and a booth exhibit, creating an interactive environment for participants from all year levels of the BSIE program, as well as faculty members, alumni, and guests from other institutions.
Through the continued success of IEAC, PUP Industrial Engineering students are given the opportunity to strengthen their knowledge, showcase their skills, and engage with the industry as they prepare to become future leaders in a rapidly evolving professional landscape.
