Anti-illegal drug operations in region also netted some 4,733 drug personalities

“We will not let up. Every gram of shabu taken off the streets, every pusher and trafficker arrested, is a victory for every community in Central Visayas,” said Police Brigadier General Rederico Maranan, Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) director, in a statement.

Maranan was referring to the results of the police’s anti-illegal drug operations in Central Visayas in the first half of the year that yielded illegal drugs worth P522,084,194.40.
According to the PRO-7, the more than half-a-billion worth of confiscated illegal drugs are broken down as 76,120.35 grams of shabu, worth P517.6 million, dried marijuana leaves worth P3 million, 250 grams of cocaine worth P1.3 million, and 60 ecstasy tablets estimated at P102,000.
Aside from the confiscated drugs, the police operations also netted or led to the arrest of 4,733 drug personalities — 238 high-value Individuals (HVIs), 2,522 street-level targets (SLTs), and 1,973 newly identified drug personalities.
With this accomplishments, Maranan emphasized the community’s role in helping police in the fight against illegal drugs in the region.
“The fight against illegal drugs is not the sole responsibility of the police, it is a shared duty. We call on the public to continue supporting our campaign by reporting drug-related activities and working hand in hand with us to create a drug-free Central Visayas,” he said.

Recently, law enforcement authorities, including policemen from PRO-7, uncovered a suspected illegal drugs laboratory in an apartment along D. Jakosalem Street, Barangay Zapatera, Cebu City.Several party drugs were confiscated during the raid.
The police served a search warrant on the owner of the apartment. The search not only led to the confiscation of illegal drugs worth P2.2 million.
These included cocaine, ecstasy, and shabu.
Aside from the drugs, authorities also uncovered a suspected illegal drugs laboratory inside the apartment.

Police arrested the man behind the alleged illegal drugs laboratory, who was believed to be the source of party drugs distributed across Central Visayas and even as far as Boracay and Zamboanga City.Several of the man’s cohorts were also arrested during the raid.
Also in early June, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas (PDEA-7) also destroyed more than half-a-billion worth of illegal drugs.
The drugs were burned in an incinerator of a funeral parlor in Cebu City.
