Palace dismisses reports linking Marcos to Franco Mabanta
CEBU, Philippines — Malacañang on Wednesday, May 6, denied reports linking President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. to social media personality Franco Mabanta.
“Hindi po siya kaibigan ng Pangulo,” Palace spokesperson Usec. Claire Castro told members of the media in a press briefing held here.
(“[Mabanta] is not friends with the President.”)
At the same time, Castro showed photos of Mabanta, the founder of Peanut Gallery Media Network (PGMN), with the Dutertes: the former President Rodrigo Duterte and Vice-President Sara Duterte.
“Baka ito ang itanong ninyo kung ano ang relasyon niya sa mga Duterte.”
(“Maybe the question you should ask is, what is Mabanta’s relationship with the Dutertes?”)

Commenting on Mabanta’s arrest over accusations of trying to extort former House Speaker Martin Romualdez, Castro said the Palace will not tolerate any wrongdoing, adding that accountability should be observed through due process.
Mabanta has been arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation for alleged extortion against Romualdez. He pioneered the PGMN that shows political commentaries on social media, particularly on YouTube./ with reports from INQUIRER.net
