CEBU CITY, Philippines — Highly ranked Filipino bantamweight prospect Kenneth “Lover Boy” Llover has arrived in Japan ahead of his world title eliminator scheduled on June 6 in Tokoname.

Llover, the current top contender in the International Boxing Federation (IBF) bantamweight division, will face No. 6-ranked Michael Angeletti of the United States in what promises to be a high-stakes clash between two unbeaten prospects.

The Kameda Promotions fight card will also feature former three-division world champion John Riel Casimero, who takes on Mexico’s Luis Nery in a 10-round non-title bout.

Also on the card, Sanman Boxing Gym’s Vince Paras, a former world title contender from General Santos City, will square off against Japan’s Aoi Yokoyama.

The event will headline a double world title showdown.

This marks Llover’s fourth fight in Japan, a country where he has grown comfortable showcasing his skills.

Since signing with Kameda Promotions in April last year, Llover has steadily climbed the world rankings. His most recent victory came against China’s Ayati Sailike for the Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) bantamweight title, where he scored a second-round knockout.

This time, however, he faces a tougher assignment in Angeletti of New Orleans, USA. Angeletti carries an unblemished 14-0 record with eight knockouts and captured the IBF USBA bantamweight title via unanimous decision over fellow unbeaten American Eros Correa in June.

Kenneth Llover, meanwhile, holds a perfect 17-0 record with 12 knockouts. The slambang world title eliminator fight is expected to give fight fans nothing but a phone booth show.

Llover’s promoter, former two-time world champion Gerry Peñalosa, along with his team, accompanied him to Japan.
