Mindanao earthquake death toll rises to 55; over 1,100 injured

MANILA, Philippines — The number of reported deaths due to the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck southern Mindanao last Monday has risen to 55, while more than 1,100 individuals were reported injured, authorities said Friday morning.

According to the latest report from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), a total of 1,120 persons were injured, while 31 individuals remain missing.

Search, rescue, and retrieval operations continue in the hardest-hit communities.
