CEBU residents especially those in  Metro Cebu,  are advised to bring umbrellas, at least until noon today, the Mactan office of the state weather bureau Pagasa said yesterday.

Pagasa Mactan chief Alfredo Quiblat said light to moderate rains is expected this morning.

“Rain forecast is 10 a.m.  to noon today. These rains are caused by the northeast monsoon or amihan winds,” Quiblat said.

Quiblat said  no major weather disturbance was recorder within and outside the country.  He said the weather will turn sunny in the afternoon.

Still, Quiblat advised those attending the “Statio Orbis” closing Mass  of the International Eucharistic Congress (IEC) at the South Road Properties (SRP) to bring raincoats.

Quiblat said temperatures will be at its peak from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

This means  those attending the Mass should bring drinking water  and be ready for hot weather.

Pagasa already recorded 107.6 millimeters of rainfall this month with the average rainfall at 124.6 millimeters.

“The amount of rainfall for January is near normal. The three-day straight rains has helped to meet the near normal average,” Quiblat said.

He said Monday and Tuesday will have light to moderate rains.

“We still have to monitor if the massive clouds will turn into a low pressure area,”  Quiblat said.
