ALA Promotions International will have a very busy 2016 with top cards slated here and abroad featuring the country’s best boxers going up against the world’s best.

ALA Promotions International CEO Michael P. Aldeguer, bared that no less than six Pinoy Pride fight cards will be held this year starting with Pinoy Pride 35: Stars of the Future at the Waterfront

Cebu City Hotel and Casino on Feb. 27 featuring ALA fighters “Prince” Albert Pagara, Mark “Magnifico” Magsayo and Kevin Jake “KJ” Cataraja.

After that, ALA Promotions and Top Rank Promotions of Bob Arum along with ABS-CBN team up for an April 23 fight card at the Smart Araneta Coliseum headlined by five-division world champion and current WBO super bantamweight champion Nonito “Filipino Flash” Donaire Jr. against No. 5 contender Zsolt Bedak (25-1, 8KOs) of Hungary.

Aldeguer bared that if Magsayo wins over Mexican Eduardo Montoya in the co-main event of PP35, the unbeaten Boholano will fight in the undercard of the Donaire Jr-Bedak duel.

Contrary to earlier reports, Aldeguer clarified that Magsayo has no opponent yet for April 23 as he is still concentrating on his Feb. 27 fight. Reports, not from CDN, claimed that Magsayo will take on former world title challenger American Chris ‘Hitman’ Avalos (26-4-0, 19KOs).

“We don’t know who told them about Avalos and Magsayo to fight on April 23. But we have plans to open up negotiations with Avalos’s camp depending on how Magsayo performs on February 27,” said Aldeguer.

After the April card, Pinoy Pride returns to Cebu on May 21 with longest reigning Filipino boxing world champion Donnie “Ahas” Nietes at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC) possibly a rematch against Moises “Moi” Fuentes who is Nietes’ mandatory challenger for his WBO Light flyweight title. But Aldeguer believes, there’s no need to hold a third fight since Nietes dominated their rematch last 2014. Aldeguer also mentioned that he is also in talks with Zanfer Promotions to replace Fuentes.

Nietes will also be part in one of two ALA Promotions cards to be held in the U.S. this year. Nietes will fight on Sept. 25 at the Stubhub Center in Carson City, California against WBO and WBA flyweight champion Juan Francisco Estrada.

“We are currently working hard on making Nietes-Estrada happen,” added Aldeguer.

Before September 25, Aldeguer is giving Pagara his first main event fight on U.S. soil in July.

ALA Promotions Int’l will also return to Dubai for the third time on Nov. 25 and they are also planning to bring back the “IDOL” Series featuring young and up and coming boxers.
