Batch 1999 continues winning ways

FOR THE past two years, winning has been automatic for Batch 1999/Southchoice Inc. and it stayed that way Tuesday night when the back-to-back defending champions nipped CEC-E, 90-84, in the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association (Cecaba) 15th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup at the CEC Gym.

Big man Mark Bukiron had another strong showing for Batch ’99, leading the team’s second straight win in the season with a whopping 40 points.

Earn Saguindel added 20 points, while Albert Uy contributed 13 markers as Batch ’99 remained unbeaten for more than two seasons now with 39th straight win.

Cedric Chua led the losing squad with 26 points. He was backed by Norman Lopez and Vincent Sy with 15 and 12 markers, respectively.

In the other game, team captain Donald Anthony Ting piled 29 points, six rebounds and three assists to power Batch 1995/Millennium Hardware to a 73-58 triumph over Batch 1998/Kaking.

It was total team effort for Batch ’95 as Dean Dy Teves, Joseph James Yu and Edison Ho also scored in double figures with 15, 14 and 11, respectively.

Eric So paced Batch ’98 with 20 points, while Elvis Evangelista contributed 11.
