Cebuano forward Aldrech Ramos led Mahindra to what by far the biggest upset in the young tournament as he powered the Enforcers  to a 102-96 win over the newly crowned San Miguel Beermen yesterday in the 41st PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Alonte Sports Arena in Biñan, Laguna.

The Balamban-native Ramos waxed hot from the three-point land where he made six of his seven attempts to finish with 26 points.

Ramos also added eight rebounds as Mahindra bounced back from a 102-110 loss to fellow expansion team Blackwater for its second win in three outings.

The Beermen stumbled in their first game since a historic title run in the Philippine Cup where they became the first team in league history to wipe a 0-3 deficit in a best-of-seven series.

LA Revilla contributed 19 points for Mahindra, while KG Canaleta tallied 15 and hit crucial triples in the closing minutes that put the Beermen at bay.

Canaleta hit three triples in the fourth with the last giving Mahindra a 93-86 lead with only 3:22 left.

Mahindra import Augustus Gilchrist wound up with 15 points, while Karl Dehesa was the fifth Enforcer who scored in twin digits with 10.

Import Tyler Wilkerson led the way for the Beermen with 29 points and 13 rebounds.

In the other game, the NLEX Road Warriors bagged their second win in three games after downing the skidding Star Hotshots, 106-99.

Former NBA Al Thornton topped the Road Warriors with 35 points.

NLEX rookie Garvo Lanete also shone bright with his 21-point performance.

Denzel Bowles piled up 30 markers, Allein Maliksi and Peter June Simon both finished with 21 points but the Hotshots still couldn’t barge into the win column as they absorbed their second straight defeat.
