LAPU-LAPU City police confiscated four small packs of cocaine and a pack of shabu from a motorist who tried to avoid a checkpoint in Barangay Buaya, Lapu-Lapu City Tuesday afternoon.

Rico Igoy is now detained while police prepare charges against him. Police said the 40-year-old Igoy, a resident of sitio Ibabao in Barangay Mactan passed along the Carmelite New Road in barangay Buaya when he saw the police checkpoint at 3:45 p.m.

Igoy reportedly made a U-turn to avoid the checkpoint but policemen from the city’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) and the City Public Safety Company (CPSC) caught up with him.

When they frisked him, police found the packs of cocaine and shabu and drug paraphernalia in his possession.
