Velez coasts to fourth victory in CFFL tilt

DESPITE being undermanned, Velez College still proved they are a formidable force as they defeated the University of San Jose – Recoletos (USJ-R) Jaguars, 13-0, in the 3rd Cebu Flag Football League (CFFL) Inter-Collegiate Tournament yesterday at the University of Cebu-Maritime Education and Training Center field.

With the hard-earned victory, Velez improved its standing to 4-1 (win-loss) behind defending champions Southwestern University (SWU) Cobras and the University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors, who both hold an unblemished 4-0 slate.

In the first game, the Cebu Institute of Technology – University (CIT-U) Wildcats finished with a draw against Bogo City’s Felipe Verallo Foundation College in overtime, 21-21.

The draw meant that Verallo College finally ended a four-game losing skid.

The fierce OT match, though, seemed to have taken the wind out of  the Wildcats’ sails as they suffered a loss in the day’s last game against USC, 32-12.

Games will resume next Sunday at the same venue.
