THE Barug Alang sa Kauswagan ug Demokrasya (Bakud) of the Durano-led party in the fifth district may soon come up with the decision on whether they support the presidency of Sen. Grace Poe after  the Supreme Court (SC) handed down its decision yesterday afternoon dismissing the two disqualification cases against her.

Rep. Ace Durano of the 5th district in Cebu province told Cebu Daily News that Bakud is “now in a position to decide as the party leadership was only waiting for the resolution of the disqualification cases.”

Rep. Durano and brother Danao City Vice Mayor Ramon “Red” Durano VI earlier announced that both of them are working to get Bakud to support Poe.

As of yesterday, no confirmation yet came from Red, the Bakud Party’s secretary general.

Red earlier said their party members are waiting for the resolution of Poe’s disqualification cases before they decide on supporting her.

He added that the party will make the formal announcement before the start of the local campaign period on March 25, or 17 days from today.

Rep. Durano, the Team Galing at Puso campaign manager, thanked the SC for handing down it’s decision.

“With the disqualification cases out of the way, this can only be a boost to our campaign,” he told CDN.

Nine out 15 justices, led by Chief Justice Ma. Lourdes Sereno, voted in favor of Poe.

Rep. Durano said the decision of the SC ensured that justice prevailed.

Provincial Board Member Miguel Antonio Magpale said the decision of the Supreme Court is a welcome development for Bakud party where he belongs.

“Poe’s camp was vindicated by the SC decision. The challenge ahead is to win the votes of the people,” said Magpale.
