More Cebu developers joining PPA seen as victory

A CEBU developer who saw more homegrown developers joining the Philippine Property Awards said this was already a victory for them.

“This is good. It means that developers in Cebu are very healthy,” said Jose Franco Soberano, Cebu Landmasters Inc. (CLI) chief operating officer.

CLI, and three other Cebu developers namely Primary Homes Inc., AppleOne Properties Inc., and J King & Sons Inc. (JKSI) Properties have been included in the PPA 2016 short list.

“We don’t see this as competition but rather as a good sign of the Cebu real estate industry collectively getting recognition from an international awards group. All in all, this is already a win for the homegrown developers of Cebu,” Soberano said.

On their inclusion in the short list, Soberano said the company is making a comeback this year with two projects.

Currently, construction for both housing developments are ongoing, but turnover is expected by May for Velmiro Heights, and by the end of the year for Casa Mira Linao, making them eligible for the award.

“Last year we didn’t have any entries but in 2014, we won Best Commercial Development for Park Centrale,” he said, citing that it was the first time a developer from Cebu was proclaimed the winner in a  national category.

“For us, any award we get from the PPA will just be a validation from real estate experts telling us we’re on the right track. We’re just happy to be back,” he added.

CLI’s two projects are competing against Primary Homes Solare project for the Regional Best Housing Development Award.

Primary Homes is also this year’s Cebu developer having the most number of projects in the short list. These projects are namely Mabolo Garden Flats, The Courtyards at Brookridge and Solare.

“We’re very happy with this year’s turnout for Primary Homes,” said Primary Homes marketing manager Michelle Cutang.

“It’s our fourth year joining PPA and since the first year, we’ve always been consistently highly commended,” Cutang said.

Last year, Primary Homes managed to bag three runner-up awards, and win a category for three projects with their Argao Royal Palms project bagging the Best Housing Development award.

Competing under the regional Best Condo Development category are Mabolo Garden Flats and The Courtyards at Brookridge by Primary Homes, Avenir by King Properties, and AppleOne Banawa Heights by AppleOne Properties.

Like Primary Homes, AppleOne was also in the list vying for the Highly Commended Developer for the regional Best Condo Development in Cebu.

AppleOne Properties Inc. and King Properties are also vying for the Best Boutique Award.

“Being nominated is already a huge honor,” said Avenir Sales and Marketing manager Demi Xyzha Redoble.

The PPA’s Gala Night will be held on April 7, in Fairmont Makati.
