A man believed to be a gun-for-hire was killed in an encounter Thursday night with operatives of the Cebu Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB).

Police said that Armold Torion, who is from Barangay Malingin in Bogo City, was among the suspects who earlier robbed a mall in Bogo City.

Torion, police said, was identified based on the mall’s CCTV recording.

Police spotted Torion in front of Jollibee Consolacion about 10 p.m. on Thursday but he resisted arrest and reported fired at his arresting officers.

During the exchange of gunfire, Torion sustained a gunshot wound on his body which led to his immediate death.

Police recovered a caliber 45 pistol from the suspect’s possession.
