A 38-year-old woman died at the hospital after being stabbed with a broken bottle by her husband in a fit of jealousy.
Luzviminda Cuevas, a resident of barangay Paknaan, Mandaue City was rushed to the hospital early this morning after she sustained several stab wounds in the body.
The 38-year-old suspect identified by police as Aprilito Cuevas is detained hours after his arrest at 6 am today.
Initial investigation by the Homicide Section led by PO3 Joseph Ruel Cutanda showed that Aprilito confronted Luzviminda in a room she rented near her workplace at 5:50 am.
She worked as a timekeeper of a construction firm at barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City. Job Batoy, the victim’s nephew-in-law, said she heard the couple fight and then Luzviminda shouting for help.
He said he asked somebody to call the police who then arrested the suspect and rushed the victim to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.
