Sinulog Guide app, a two-year project turned reality

The Sinulog Guide app for smartphones took two years in the making. It took them two years to gather data, but roughly two weeks to put the app together.

Innohub Media founders Max and Marlene Limpag started gathering Cebu-related data and trivia during 2012.

Marlene credits much of the vision to her husband saying it was Max who paid close attention to digital trends. “Mobile phones and tablets have now become the main computer of the people. That’s already where you check your e-mails, diba?,” Max told the press.

The Sinulog Guide which clocks in at 6.82 MB, contains the festival’s history, listings of it’s official activities, and other Sinulog-related data. Information regarding mass schedules and backgrounds of the contingents are provided by the Sinulog Foundation Inc.

This may also come in extra handy for tourists since it will feature places to stay when in Cebu. Since most hotels are already booked for the weekend, the app will feature establishments that won’t be accepting reservations beforehand. The app will also feature tips on how a tourist can maximize his stay in Cebu. A directory of consulates, hospitals and the complete list of tour guides and tour operators accredited by the Department of Tourism (DOT) may also be accessed. With a simple tap, one can call directly the number indicated to book a tour guide or make a restaurant reservation. The Sinulog Guide app is available at the Google Play Store for Android and Windows Phone Store for Windows. For IOS, you may access the guide by visiting the mobile web version of the guide: https://sinulog.myguide.ph. Innohub Media and Smart Communications, Inc. are also holding photography contests that are open for everybody.

By simply putting, #SmartSinulog when posting your photos at social media sites such as Twitter, Instagram and Facebook, you may automatically qualify. As long as your photos are Sinulog-related and the photo you post is in public, you may have a chance to win. There will be winners for Best in Sinulog photo, Best in Sinulog selife, and Best in Sinulog photo by a media correspondent and/or blogger.
