A POLICEMAN caught sniffing shabu inside a drug den was shot and wounded by operatives of the Provincial Intelligence Branch in a buy bust operation in Sitio Dakit, Poblacion Pinamungajan located 64.8 kilometers west of Cebu City.
PO1 Ian Patrick Nillas Carvelliida, a 29-year-old investigator of the Pinamungajan police precinct was shot in the right leg.
Two other policemen who were allegedly Carvellida’s companions that were also caught sniffing inside the drug den had just left when the operation was conducted.
SPO1 Reynaldo Solante, PIB team leader, said the operation originally targeted 49-year-old suspected drug pusher Allan Salazar when they chanced on Carvellida sniffing shabu inside Salazar’s drug den.
A police decoy bought shabu from Salazar while Carvellida sniffed shabu.
When the transaction ended, the raid began and Carvellida drew his service firearm.
Solante said they didn’t know Carvellida was a policeman until he admitted it to them.
Carvellida didn’t wear a uniform at the time and he admitted there were two other policemen who were at the drug den when the operation occurred.
Solante said the residents in the area asked them to conduct the raid after seeing policemen sniffing shabu inside the drug den.
