Tomas: 3 drug lords out of action

INCOMING Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña says he is happy that suspected drug lord Alvaro “Barok” Alvaro surrendered to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in Bohol.

“Also wanted for the murder of Poro station chief Jonas Tajanlangit, he gave up after being tracked to Bohol and is now in Manila for questioning. Three of the top 4 drug lords in Cebu are now out of action,” Osmeña posted on his Facebook account.

Barok, escorted by NBI personnel and his legal counsel, Jonah John Ungab, arrived at the regional office of the NBI at Barangay Capitol Site Cebu City yesterday past 7 p.m.

“My message to drug lords is that the police will get unli(mited) ammo and cash,” he said.

According to Osmeña, aside from a “major drug lord in his own right,” Barok is also the right-hand man of the slain suspected drug lord Jeffrey “Jaguar” Diaz.

In a text message to CDN, he said he will also give a cash reward to the policemen who killed the gunman of one of his party leaders Pastor Jun Maternal.

Last Monday, Osmeña handed P100,000 cash to Supt. Rex Derilo, head of the regional Intelligence Division, and Supt. George Ylanan of the Regional Special Operations Group, who led the operation that killed Jaguar.

Aside from this, Osmeña also promised to put up a hotline where people can text anonymously to give details about illegal drug activities in their place.

“There will be a hotline for you to text the names and locations of your local drug pushers very, very soon,” he said. /USJ-R Intern Dafne Wenceslao
