Lapu-Lapu City’s dining scene continues to expand with the opening of Amah Mee Ya, a new Cantonese restaurant that combines traditional Chinese flavors with a modern dining experience.

For diners seeking Cantonese cuisine in Lapu-Lapu City, Amah Mee Ya offers a menu shaped by decades of experience while presenting familiar Chinese favorites in a contemporary setting.

Located at 8 Newtown Boulevard in Mactan Newtown, the restaurant is the latest venture from the hospitality group behind Cebu favorites The Ching Palace and Master Po, introducing a concept that combines signature dishes from both brands while establishing its own identity.

For owner Jan Joan Yu-So, the goal was to bring the same level of quality and culinary expertise that diners have come to expect from the group’s established restaurants to a growing market in Lapu-Lapu City.

“We wanted to bring Chinese food to Lapu-Lapu City. You can expect the quality of Ching Palace and Master Po in Amah Mee Ya,” Yu-So said.

Built on decades of culinary experience

While Amah Mee Ya may be a new addition to Cebu’s restaurant landscape, its culinary roots trace back to decades of experience built by the team behind The Ching Palace.

According to Yu-So, the restaurant’s menu draws inspiration from both of the group’s established concepts.

“Fifty percent of Ching Palace’s menu and fifty percent of Master Po’s menu is here in Amah Mee Ya,” she said.

The result is a dining concept that brings together familiar favorites from both restaurants while offering guests a more contemporary setting designed for today’s diners.
