Cebuano netters score wins in Palawan net

THE TOP junior netters of Cebu put up impressive performances in the ongoing Palawan Pawnshop – Palawan Express Pera Padala (PSP-PEPP) regional tennis tournament over the weekend in Naga City, Cebu.

Two-time Batang Pinoy gold medalist Elizabeth Abarquez led the list of winners for Cebu as she scored successive victories in the Girls U-16 division to advance to the semifinal round.

Abarquez outlasted Ericka Jeva Yap, 4-0, 4-2, in the first round then defeated Wyne Dyle Paglinawan, 6-1, 6-2, in the next game to advance to the semis, where she will face the winner between Beverly Enriquez and Phel Bless Coderos.

Not to be outdone, Cebuana Tiffany Nocos also advanced to the final four round of the Unisex category after logging wins over Ryan John Satera, 4-0, 4-0, and Dwynne Lequigan, 4-2, 5-4 (3).

In the boys’ division, Norman Enriquez and Kevin Pantillo listed separate victories in the U-18 category.

Pantillo trampled Venz Alforque, 4-0, 4-0, and Francis Jay Ricana, 7-5, 6-2, to set up a semifinal duel with Feb Wendell Deja.

Norman Enriquez, meanwhile, annihilated Carl Lapingcao, 4-0, 4-0, and Vhon Tudtud, 6-1, 6-4.
Enriquez will take on Daryl Alcordo in the semifinals.
