IT WAS another day in the office for Batch 1999/Southchoice Inc. as it blew out Team CEC-A/ACY Shipping/Koi Herbal, 87-66, last Thursday in the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association (Cecaba) 15th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup at the CEC Gym.

With its fifth win in as many games, Batch ’99 cemented its hold of the one spot while preserving an unbeaten run in the past two seasons.

The back-to-back champion is now on a 42-game winning streak and is threatening to once again finish the season without tasting a single loss.

The ever-reliable Mark Bukiron spearheaded Batch ’99’s searing attack by firing 32 points. Albert Uy also played well with his 22-point output.

Batch ’99’s top point guard Earn Saguindel scored just four points but the former University of the East Red Warrior came away with 10 assists, five rebounds, one steal and a block.

CEC-A tasted its second loss in five games despite a balanced attack as Gino Abella, Paul Cabellon, Juan Carlo Espada, Raymark Ong, and Samuel Sia finished with 18, 14, 13, 11 and 10 points, respectively.

In the other match, Batch 1998/Kaking snatched its second win in four outings via a 64-52 spanking of Batch 2000.

Eric So paced Batch ’98 with 22 markers. Rex Millan pitched in 21 markes, while Elvis Evangelista added 14.

Oliver Boltron wound up with 14 points and Lorenz Azzaraga had 10 for Batch 2000, which stayed winless after four games.
