LTO urges clients to say no to fixers

NEWLY designated Land Transportation Office in Central Visayas (LTO-7) officer-in-charge Alita Pulga urged the transacting public not to deal with fixers.

During the 888 News forum yesterday at Marco Polo Plaza, Pulga said that most of the fixers approach clients outside the LTO-7 office.

“We received complaints in our office and we already acted on them,” Pulga said.

Pulga said they were coordinating with the police to apprehend the fixers at the LTO-7 compound.

Pulga admitted that previously some job order employees coordinated with the fixers in processing services, such as the renewal of driver’s license and vehicle’s registration.

However, she said no LTO employee has been dismissed yet from service due to fixing.

Pulga appealed to the public to directly transact with their office.

She assured clients that even without the help of fixers, transactions will be completed in just an hour or more.

Meanwhile, Pulga said the LTO-7 is eyeing for another renewal licensing office in a mall, aside from the existing one in SM City Cebu, to process pending transactions at the district offices.

“This is our proposal to central office. We are just waiting for their approval,” she said.
