PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte will be making his first visit to different military camps based in the Visayas on Friday.
A source, who requested anonymity for lack of authority to issue statement on the visit, told Cebu Daily News that President Duterte will visit two camps on Friday.
The President is scheduled to visit on Friday morning Camp Macario Peralta in Jamindan, Capiz, where the Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry Division (3ID) is based.
In the afternoon, he will fly to Cebu to visit Camp Lapu-Lapu based in Barangay Apas, Cebu City, where the headquarters of the Armed Forces of the Philippines Central Command (Centcom) is located.
“I think he just wants to show his support to the (military) personnel,” the source said.
During Duterte’s visit, he will hold a “Talk to Men,” where soldiers from different AFP units could listen to guidance from their commander in chief.
Duterte began camp hopping on July 21. Since then, he has already visited six military camps, which included the 104th Infantry Battalion in Isabela City, Basilan; Western Mindanao Command headquarters in Zamboanga City; Camp Siongco in Awang Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao; Fort Magsaysay in Palayan City, Nueva Ecija; Camp Guillermo Nakar in Lucena City, Quezon; and the 60th Infantry Battalion headquarters in Asuncion, Davao del Norte.
He also visited the AFP Medical Center on August 2.
No additional details were made known as of this writing.
Other government agencies like the Philippine Information Agency in Central Visayas (PIA-7) did not confirm his visit.
The Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas (PAV) confirmed the visit but indicated there were no details available for release to the media.
