PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte’s first visit to Cebu after taking his oath as President will be to a military camp and will be a “simple visit.”
Lt. Col. Luzmindo Mamauag, Central Command (Centcom) public information officer said even the welcome ceremony will be simple.
He explained that being the commander in Chief of the AFP, he should be given full military honors especially that it is his first visit to the military camp here in Cebu.
However, he said it is the discretion of the commander in chief also to make the ceremony simple.
Full military honors usually involves at least 100 soldiers.
“Knowing the President, he will opt for the simpler ceremony,” Mamauag said.
A foyer composed of 21 soldiers will welcome him, he added.
Duterte is expected to arrive at around 3 in the afternoon.
Centcom is preparing pinaypay or maruya for the snacks after hearing this is one of the favorite foods of the President.
This will be Duterte’s second camp visit in the Visayas.
Prior to coming to Centcom, he will visit Camp Macario Peralta in Jamindan, Capiz, where the headquarters of the Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry Division (3ID) is located.
Duterte will hold a “Talk to Men” at Bondad Hall with at least a hundred soldiers.
But prior to that, Mamauag said Duterte will be given a security briefing of the entire Visayas.
This will be the eighth camp that Duterte has visited since he started his camp visits on July 21.
