Starting Monday, the old Mandaue-Mactan Bridge will already be open to two-way vehicular traffic for 24 hours.
This after the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced that they have already finished repair works on the bridge.
DPWH Project Engr. Danilo Pasicaran said the repairs were completed almost a month earlier than scheduled. It was supposed to be completed in August 29 yet.
“We requested the contractor to add more manpower and equipment and work 24/7 so that the work will be shorter,” Pasicaran said.
Pasicaran made the announcement during the Mactan-Cebu Bridge Management Board meeting on Friday.
He said the project contractor will now be working on the U-turn slot under the Mandaue City side of the bridge. The U-turn slot works have been undergoing setbacks due to the presence of informal settlers in the area.
