THE finisher’s medal for this year’s Cobra IronMan 70.3 Asia Pacific Championship will symbolize the kind of effort that a participant has to put in to conquer the grueling race.
Renowned Cebuano designer Kenneth Cobonpue unveiled the medal in Friday’s “Meet The Pros” press conference at Shangri-la Mactan.

Last year’s medal, made of cast stone and resin, had miniature figures representing Ironman’s three sporting events – swimming, cycling and running.

This time the medal takes the form of the human heart.

“Our inspiration this time is the heart. I know that when you run the race and you feel like giving up, you’re in this dark place, and it’s your heart that keeps you going,” said Cobonpue who hinted that this could be his last as Ironman medal designer.

“There are a lot of talented Ceuano designers. Let’s give them the chance to showcase their talents,” said the multi-awarded designer.
