Lapu traffic chief shot near office

Lapu-Lapu City’s traffic chief Frank Brazil is in critical condition after he was shot by unidentified motorcycle riding assailants while he stood at the roadside of the City Traffic Management System (CTMS) office in Barangay Poblacion, Lapu-Lapu city at 7:10 p.m Saturday.

Brazil was shot thrice in the back and was immediately brought by his staff to Mactan Doctors Hospital but due to non-availability of a surgeon he was later transferred to the University of Cebu Medical Center in Mandaue City.

Police are investigating the incident and tracking down the perpetrators. Lapu-Lapu City has just started enforcing the apprehension of undocumented tricycles and passenger jeepneys.

PO3 Jerson Alparito, homicide section investigator, said traffic enforcers recently apprehended tricycle drivers parking illegaly at Basak Road.
