COMING off from a one-week flu, Piolo Pascual will look to bank on mental toughness as he and the rest of his Sun Life Tri-Team see action today in the Cobra Energy Drink IronMan 70.3 Philippines Asia-Pacific Championships, which will start at Shangri-La Mactan’s Resort and Spa in Lapu-Lapu City.
“I’ll pick up the pace early and load up again.” the 39-year-old Pascual, who is a constant finisher in the IronMan 70.3 race since he first joined three years ago, said.
The Sun Life tri-team wil be fielding four relay teams in the race, led by Sun Life Financial Asia president Kevin Strain. He will be lacing up for the running event while Sun Life Hong Kong Strategic Associate Director for Actuarial and Risk Brandon Kandt will handle the bike leg. Sun Life Philippines board member Paco Sandejas will be the team’s swimmer.
Pascual, who will suit up in the biking leg, will be joined by Larry Medenilla for the swim and Toniel Ty for the run.
Making up their other team are Sun Life Chief Business Development Officer Michael Manuel (bike), Sun Life Health and Wellness Manager Jaymie Pizzaro (run) and Evan Uy (swim).
Jan Michael Chiu (swim), Toots Malapad (bike) and Don Gutierrez (run) will form the fourth team.
