Two killed, four injured in drug shootings in Cebu

TWO died while four others were injured in separate shooting incidents in Dalaguete and Argao towns and the cities of Naga and Carcar last Tuesday and yesterday.

In Barangay Poblacion, Dalaguete, a resident classified as a “level three” drug pusher in the police drug watch list was shot down by unidentified assailants at midnight yesterday.

The 28-year-old Pearl Sepulveda sustained two gunshot wounds on the head while her companion Junrel Ambayek sustained a gunshot wound in the back and is in critical condition.

PO1 Marlou Sentillas of the Dalaguete police precinct said Sepulveda refused to surrender during their Oplan TokHang operation.

Sepulveda was drinking alone in a store when she was joined by Ambayek. The two were headed for a vigil when the motorcycle-riding assailants arrived and the back rider fired several shots at them.

In Barangay Inuburan, Naga City, a 50-year-old collector identified as Jolito Mabuting was shot down by motorcycle-riding assailants at 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Mabuting died on the spot after he sustained two gunshot wounds in the head.

In Barangay Talaga, Argao town, a 40-year-old drug suspect identified as Jonathan Cartillas was shot inside his home at 8 p.m. Tuesday.

PO1 Nero Cresente of the Argao police precinct said Cartillas was watching TV when a ski-mask wearing gunman barged in and shot him in the neck and back.

Cartillas was brought by relatives to a nearby hospital where he remains in serious condition.

In Barangay Valencia, Carcar City, 24-year-old Edenges Mahusay and his mother Ahdie Mahusay were shot by unidentified motorcycle-riding gunmen during his son’s birthday party at his home at 6 p.m. last Tuesday.
