CEBU CITY—Mayor Nice Apura of Carcar City in southern Cebu has offered a cash reward of P200,000 for anyone who can provide information that can lead to the arrest of the armed men who killed a village councilor and wounded his wife and son inside his own home in Barangay Napo, Carcar on Wednesday night.
Still unidentified armed men barged into the house of Barangay Councilor Mario Labra while the family was watching a program on television.
They first repeatedly shot at Labra, 58 before shooting his wife, Geronima, 55 and son, Clayborn, 24.
Apura said Labra was with another village councilor when he went to the mayor’s office to report that he received a death threat.
Someone sent a note to Labra, a former barangay captain of Napo, that his days were coming to an end.
“I told him not to be complacent and to be always on the guard,” said the mayor.
Apura said he was hopeful that the police would solve the case immediately so justice be given to the family.
