THE “Pinoy Aquaman” Ingemar Macarine might reschedule his historic attempt to cross the 21-mile (33.7 km) English Channel because of bad weather this weekend in Dover, United Kingdom.
Macarine was eyeing to do the open-water swim either this Saturday or Sunday after receiving a go signal from his official pilot Stuart Gleeson, the captain of Sea Leopard that will be guiding him through the treacherous and freezing waters of the English Channel.
But Macarine said he had to meet with everyone in his team yesterday afternoon because of the bad weather they experienced in the past few days.
“It seems it’s less likely to happen this weekend,” Macarine said. “The weather here is very unpredictable. Last week, it was all looking good but it changed this week.”
Should the 39-year-old Boholano environmentalist accomplish his open-water swim crossing Dover, UK to Calais, France, he will be the first Filipino to do this. Macarine said he considers this as the Mount Everest of open-water swimming.
